Welcome!

Welcome!

We are thrilled to have you join us for the 2022 Swissvale Edible Garden Tour!

Swissvale Community Action Committee created this FREE, community-wide event in 2019 to foster a network of successful vegetable gardeners in and around Swissvale, to inspire confidence in new and young gardeners, to promote local food resources, including the Swissvale Farmers Market and Swissvale Food Bank, and to raise money to support the Swissvale Community Garden.

This year’s event has two parts, both held on Saturday, July 23: Open Gardens runs from 10AM-2PM and the Community Picnic runs from 2PM-4:30PM.

Open Gardens is CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure). Guides are available at Info Tables at the Swissvale Farmers Market (9AM-1PM) and in front of the Carnegie Free Library of Swissvale (10AM-2PM). This guide contains a map and schedule of events, provides information about what to expect at each stop, and details when and where programs are happening. This information is also available online at www.swissvale.org. Visitors can start at any of the 25 Open Gardens stops and stop at as many or as few gardens as they like.

At the close of Open Gardens at 2PM, the Community Picnic begins! Join us in the Swissvale Community Garden (Stop #25 on the map) for food, activities, music, and to meet other tour-goers and garden stop hosts.

We’d love to see your photos! Share them on Instagram using @SwissvaleAction and #SwissvaleGardens.

This event would not be possible without the generosity and enthusiasm of our garden hosts. Please thank them for opening up their spaces to the public when you see them. Likewise, the sponsors listed in this guide have been integral to making this tour happen so please support them whenever possible!

Thank you for joining us and happy garden touring,
