Carrot Cake Baking Competiton at the Picnic
At the community picnic that follows Open Gardens, we’re holding a carrot cake baking competition! The competition is open to anyone who wanted to participate, and entries will be judged by Casey, owner of the great local bakery Confections by Casey Renee. The competition will be a great way to showcase the baking talents of the community and provide a sweet end to a fun day in the gardens.
Competition Details:
We're keeping it simple - to enter, bring either a slice of carrot cake or cupcake to the picnic by 3:30PM. The picnic will be held at the farmers market, at its new location outside at Dickson Preparatory STEAM Academy (7301 Schoyer Ave).
The only requirement is that it's homemade! Let us know if you grew the carrots yourself - it'll give you a little bonus. Using store-bought carrots is totally fine, though. Bakers of any age and experience level are welcome to participate. If you'd like, you can share the rest of your cake or cupcakes with everyone at the picnic.
Judging will begin at 4PM, and a winner will be announced shortly afterwards! The judge will consider both taste and appearance. The winner will receive a gift basket and, of course, will instantly become an award-winning celebrity baker.
